Swedish iron ore miner Dannemora Mineral has signed a contract with German steel giant ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG for delivery of between 20,000 and 30,000 mt of iron ore in the second quarter of 2010.
A Dannemore Mineral press release said that the delivered iron ore will be used in full-scale production at the ThyssenKrupp steelworks in Duisburg, adding that, following technical verification of the production results, negotiations on long-term supply contracts are expected to begin.
Dannemora Mineral has already signed agreements for trial deliveries of iron ore to Austrian steel company Voestalpine and German steel company Salzgitter. Dannemora Mineral expects to have an annual production of 1.5 million mt of iron ore at full capacity.
Dannemore Mineral CEO Staffan Bennerdt said, "I am really looking forward to starting negotiations on long-term supply agreements."
