Strong slowdown in growth of Japan’s containerized exports

The growth in Japan's containerized export volume is expected to be just 0.2 percent year on year in the current Japanese fiscal year (started April 1), after a 9.2 percent year-on-year increase for the whole of the last fiscal year, as reported by Japan-based Nittsu Research Institute and Consulting (Nittsu).

Japan is expected to export 5.321 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of goods in the current fiscal year (ends March 30, 2012), while in the first half of the fiscal year Japanese exports of containerized goods totaled 2.6 million TEUs, down 3.5 percent year on year.
