According to local sources, the household appliance, steel and automotive sectors in Italy are facing a period of crisis with almost 90,000 jobs at risk.

Local media are also talking about “dramatic conditions” for the mills Acciaierie d’Italia, JSW Steel Italy and SiderAlloys. The factors identified as contributing to the crisis are high energy costs, the lack of raw materials, and the uncontrolled dumping of imports. Moreover, it seems that the Italian government is hesitating to adopt measures that tackle the energy crisis generated by poor management of the ecological transition.

In order to draw attention on this situation, the Italian unions Fiom-Cgil, Fim-Cisl and Uilm have organized a strike of metalworkers that will take place at the beginning of July.
