Warren, Michigan-based steel processor SET Enterprises, Inc. announced Monday plans to build a new steel processing and service center location in Jackson, Alabama. At full operating levels the new facility will be capable of processing 360,00 net tons (326,588 metric tons) of material to support new steel production coming on line at ThyssenKrupp Steel USA in Calvert, Alabama and other Southeast steel manufacturers.

SET will invest an estimated $12 million for the first phase of construction, which will consist of two slitting lines, including one line with the capability of processing heavy gauge material up to .500". The facility is scheduled to begin production in early 2012.

A planned second phase would double the size of the facility and increase the processing capacity and services offered.
