Steel Development Co. (SDC) broke ground last week on a new 80,000 square-foot rebar manufacturing plant in Armory, Mississippi.

John Correnti, SDC chairman and CEO, told press that the plant will process an estimated 500 to 800 automobiles worth of scrap daily and turn it into rebar.

SDC will spend $175 million on the project, which is scheduled to open in the spring of 2010.
