The Indian steel rim producer Steel Strips Wheels Ltd (SSWL) has announced the receipt of an order worth over €30 million from French automaker Renault for the supply of steel wheels for its new plant in Russia. The business is for a new vehicle to be launched in Russia towards end of 2011.

Accordingly, SSWL is to supply 20,000 steel wheels per month once full vehicle production capacity is reached. The total supplies in the next five years will be approximately 1.2 million steel wheels, generating a value of over €30 million.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, from December 14, 2010, SSWL started the regular supply of steel wheel rims to Tata Motors Limited, India's largest automobile producer and a part of Tata Group. In addition, in January 2011 SSWL also announced the receipt of an order worth almost $9 million to supply nearly 0.6 million wheels in the next five years to Peugeot Citroen (PSA) group, one of the major carmakers in Europe.
