Swedish specialty steel producer SSAB has announced that it has started to collaborate with Germany-based KIRCHHOFF Automotive regarding supply of fossil-free steel.

Accordingly, SSAB’s fossil-free steel will be used in the manufacture of KIRCHNOFF’s safety-relevant structural components in order to reduce carbon emissions by 40 percent in car body construction.

“We at SSAB are striving for a close partnership with KIRCHHOFF Automotive in order to jointly take a leading role in the development and use of CO2-reduced or CO2-free steel grades in the automotive sector in the coming years,” Roman Kaiser, sales director of SSAB Europe, said.
