Spanish crude steel output down 13 percent in February

In February this year, Spain's crude steel output amounted to 1.16 million mt, down 13.1 percent year on year, according to data released by the Spanish steelmakers association Unesid.
 
Meanwhile, in the whole of 2011 total crude steel production in Spain decreased 5.1 percent or 0.8 million mt compared to the previous year, amounting to 15.5 million mt. Even though Spanish crude steel production rose in the first quarter of 2011, it began to decrease gradually starting from April. The most significant drop was recorded in December, down by 19.9 percent year on year, leading to a year on year fall of 10.6 percent in the fourth quarter, according to Unesid.
