South Korea sees increased CR and HDG sheet exports in H1

South Korea's exports of both cold rolled (CR) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) steel sheets increased in the first half of the year in the first half of the year on year-on-year basis, in contrast to the shrinkage of imports of these products.

According to the data from the Korea Iron and Steel Association (KOSA), South Korea's overall exports of CR and HDG steel sheets in the first half of the year reached 1,625,602 mt and 851,613 mt respectively, marking year-on-year rises of 7.7 percent and 34 percent, whereas imports of CR and HDG sheets declined by 6.7 percent to 235,610 mt and 15.7 percent to 309,286 mt, respectively.

In the given period,  South Korea's CR sheet exports to China declined by 17.7 percent year on year to 328,408 mt, while imports of these products from China reached 159,966 mt, up 59.7 percent year on year. As regards HDG sheet, South Korea's exports to China in the first six months were up 45.4 percent to 155,748 mt, while imports from China fell 17.2 percent to 193,029 mt, both year on year.
