South Africa’s steel imports rise 10.7 percent in Jan-Apr 2010

According to data released by the South African Revenue Service, in the first four months of 2010, South Africa's imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) totaled 201,851 metric tons, rising by 10.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
 
Meanwhile, the country's imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) amounted to 41,374 metric tons in April 2010, decreasing by 26.8 percent compared to the previous month and down 16.5 percent year on year.
