Germany-based plantmaker SMS Group has announced that it will supply a new rolling mill for Egypt-based long steel producer El Marakby Steel. The new mill will be designed for the production of straight rebars and wire rod in coils and will enable El Marakby to expand its product portfolio and meet the increased demand for both rebar and wire rod in coils in Egypt.
SMS stated that the mill will be designed to produce both rebar from 10 mm to 32 mm and wire rod in coils from 5.5 mm to 12 mm at a capacity of 400,000 mt per year. Commissioning of the new rolling mill is scheduled for December 2018
