Germany-based plantmaker SMS Group has announced that it will supply a new high-speed wire rod mill to China-based Ningxia Iron & Steel in Zhongwei City to expand Ningxia Iron & Steel’s product portfolio and increase its capacity. The new mill will be designed to produce 600,000 mt of wire rod per year. Commissioning of the mill is scheduled for 2017.
Ningxia Iron & Steel will produce quality products, such as rebar in the size range from six millimeters to 20 millimeters diameter in carbon structural and low-alloy steels on the new wire rod mill, for the Chinese market.
