Germany-based plantmaker SMS Group has announced that it will supply a new continuous hot dip galvanizing line to Nucor-JFE Steel Mexico, a 50-50 joint venture (JV) of US-based steel producer Nucor Corporation and Japanese steelmaker JFE Steel Corporation.

The hot dip galvanizing line will have an output capacity of 400,000 mt of steel strips per year, most notably deep-drawing grades and high-strength steels for the automotive industry. Startup of the line is anticipated for the second half of 2019. The new line will be designed with advanced furnace technology which allows economical production of high-strength material.
