German plantmaker SMS Group has announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement with German steel plate producer Dillinger Group to accelerate digitalization of the iron and steelmaking process.

The companies, who will develop advanced raw material tracking technology for improved process control, will optimize blast furnace operation by modeling and digitalizing logistics processes.

“This solution has already been successfully launched on the market and is now more precisely tailored to customer needs,” Fabrice Hansen, chief technology officer at SMS Digital, said.
