According to local news, firefighters responded Friday to a fire at ArcelorMittal’s 7 Tandem Mill in Weirton, West Virginia. Summer Paris, corporate spokeswoman for ArcelorMittal, said a transformer in the plant's strip steel operation malfunctioned, causing adjacent electrical equipment to catch fire.

Eight workers were affected by the fire: seven were decontaminated on site and the eighth was decontaminated after reaching the emergency room, where three remained as of Friday afternoon.

The fire was put out with extinguishers and a small water line, but the company stated that the mill will be shut down while the incident is investigated.
