Slovenian Steel Group (Slovenska Industrija Jekla - SIJ) has announced that it has in recent months acquired two Italian steel centers, marking the intensification of its efforts to make a breakthrough into the EU and international markets and to increase its customer service.
Specifically, in June this year SIJ acquired a 100 percent share of the Sidertoce steel center based in Gravellona Toce in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, while in August it purchased a 60 percent share in the Griffon & Roman steel center based in the suburbs of Milan.
With these two Italian steel centers, SIJ expects to see a rise in its revenues in the Italian and neighboring markets of approximately €40 million per year.
Last year, Metal Ravne, a subsidiary of SIJ, became the 100 percent owner of the Ljubljana-based Ravne steel center. In April this year, SIJ also bought an 85 percent majority share in the German-based Niro Wenden steel center. From the beginning of July, SIJ has boosted its German market breakthrough even further by buying a majority shareholding amounting to 60 percent of the German-based SMG Edelstahl steel center.
