Austria-based plantmaker Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has announced that it has received an order from the Indian steel company BMM Ispat to supply a new merchant bar mill for its Hospet location.
BMM Ispat has launched a 2 million mt per year capacity expansion at its existing facilities in Hospet. With the bar rolling mill, the company is expanding its production capacities for structural steels. With an annual capacity of 850,000 mt, the new plant will produce reinforcing steels, round bars, flat and square bars, angles and channel sections. Low and medium carbon or low-alloy steel grades as well as spring and free cutting steel will be processed.
The merchant bar mill is scheduled to be commissioned for the end of 2013.
