Austria-based giant engineering and plantmaking company Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has announced the receipt of an order from Chinese steelmaker Shougang Jingtang Iron and Steel Co. to equip an annealing line and two hot galvanizing lines of the mill's steel refining complex on the Caofeidian peninsula with drive technology, electrical equipment and automation systems.

The three processing lines in question are part of the steelmaker's second expansion phase which is currently underway. Siemens has already equipped the producer's strip processing lines in the first stage of its expansion.

The contract volume is in the double-digit million euro range and production is scheduled to start at the end of 2010.

Shougang Jingtang, a joint venture of Chinese steel producers Shougang Corp. and Tangshan Iron & Steel Co., is currently building a new steel refining and processing factory on the artificially created Caofeidian peninsula 80 kilometers south of Tangshan.
