Austria-based Siemens Metals Technologies announced today, on October 24, that it has received an order from Taiwanese steel producer Wei Chih Steel Industry Co. Ltd. (Wei Chih) to supply a new rolling line for bar-in-coil. The line will be constructed in the company's bar mill in Tainan and is scheduled to go on stream at the end of 2013. The new line is expected to enable Wei Chih to expand its product portfolio to include high-quality ring material.

The bar-in-coil line is designed to produce 85 metric tons per hour, corresponding to an annual capacity of more than 500,000 metric tons of high-grade and carbon steel end products. The line will be able to produce rebars with diameters of between 10 and 40 millimeters and round steels with diameters ranging from 13 to 42 millimeters. The maximum coil weight will be 2.1 tons.

Wei Chih Steel Industry Co. Ltd was founded in 1982. The company produces reinforcement and structural steels for the domestic market and exports to several countries worldwide.
