Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) has announced the receipt of an order from Austria-based steelmaker Voestalpine Stahl GmbH, Linz, (Voestalpine) for the supply of a new HDG (hot dip galvanizing) line No. 5. The value of the order in question is said to be a two-digit million euro figure.
Siemens had previously supplied Voestalpine with equipment for its HDG lines No. 3 and No. 4. The new line will have an output capacity of around 400,000 mt per annum and will be used for the manufacture of high-strength galvanized cold rolled wide strip up to 1,750 mm wide for applications in the automotive industry.
The new HDG line is scheduled to go into operation in late 2009, whereas the power-up phase is planned for the summer of 2010. Siemens will also be responsible for the installation of all the electrical equipment and for the commissioning of the electrical and control equipment for the plant.
At the Linz site, Voestalpine operates a fully integrated steelworks with an annual production capacity of around five million mt.
