Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has announced the receipt of an order from Ukrainian steelmaker Dneprovskiy Integrated Iron and Steel Works named after Dzerzhinskiy (DMKD), a subsidiary of Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), to fundamentally renovate its two section producing mills - i.e. a heavy-section mill and merchant bar mill. The value of the order is in the upper two-digit million euro range.

The order includes engineering and supply of mechanical equipment as well as the electrical and automation systems for both mills.

The modernization of the two mills in question will allow DMKD to increase their production capacities, to expand their production range and improve the quality of finished products. At the same time, the production costs of these two mills will be reduced considerably.

The two mills are scheduled to start production, following the modernization, in the course of 2010.
