Siemens to modernize coupled tandem pickling mill of voestalpine subsidiary

Austria-based plantmaker Siemens has announced that it has received an order from voestalpine Stahl GmbH, a subsidiary of the Austria-based steelmaker voestalpine Group, to modernize the coupled tandem pickling line No. 1 at its Linz plant in Austria.
 
The coupled tandem pickling line at voestalpine Stahl in Linz is designed for strip widths of up to 1,640 mm and thicknesses from 0.3 to 3 mm, and has an annual production capacity of 2.3 million mt of cold strip.
 
The modernization works will aim to improve the pickling process and also to boost operating reliability. The project is scheduled to be completed in September 2014.
