Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) has announced the receipt of an order from PT Bluescope Steel's Indonesian subsidiary to equip a new integrated zinc-coating and painting line with an annual production of 175,000 mt of steel.
The new processing line will be installed at the Cilegon site of Bluescope Steel Indonesia and will start operating in the spring of 2010.
The contract between the two companies is worth a two-digit million euro figure.
PT Bluescope Indonesia is the only production facility that produces coated and painted steel products in the country.
Siemens will be responsible for all the engineering and for the supplying of all the mechanical and electric components. Also, the company will supply basic and process automation systems of the integrated galvanizing painting line. Siemens will also supply an in-line skin pass mill with subsequent tension leveler.
The result of the installation will allow rapid production changeovers and this will increase the flexibility of Bluescope. Also, with the new equipment of Siemens, the plant will expand its annual production capacity to 275,000 mt per year.
On the other hand, the contract in question includes supply of the operator control and visualization equipment and special control functions for strip movement which will ensure a stable high production speed and also prevent damage to the strip.
