Sidor’s steel production rises 16 percent in Q1

Caracas, Venezuela-based steelmaker Siderurgica del Orinoco (Sidor) announced Wednesday that the company's steelmaking output was up 16 percent in Q1 2011 compared to Q4 2010.

Sidor's steel production totaled 766,000 metric tons in Q1, compared to 662,000 metric tons in Q4 2010.

For the full year 2010, steel production only amounted to 1.8 million mt, down 42 percent from the prior year.
