On December 6, Autralia-based iron ore exploration and development company Sherwin Iron Limited (Sherwin Iron), which owns 100 percent of the 4,000 km2 Roper River iron ore project in Australia's Northern Territory, announced that it has outlined an initial exploration target of 200 million mt at 40-44 percent iron for the Mount Scott prospect at the Roper River iron ore project.

The prospect hosts similar Hematitic ironstone units to the company's Sherwin Creek hematite resource of 320 million mt at 40.1 percent iron, but with a larger target footprint area.

Sherwin Iron's mining consultant SRK Consulting recently raised the total JORC estimate of the Roper River iron ore project to 488 million mt at 41.7 percent iron, demonstrating the potential of the project in the Northern Territory.
