In the January-April period this year, the volume of coal imports and exports from China's Shanxi Province indicated year-on-year declines of 64.5 percent and 65.9 percent, to 531,000 mt and 66,000 mt, respectively, according to the customs authorities in Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi.

The Taiyuan customs authorities said that the decline in the coal import volume in the January-April period this year was mainly due to sluggish demand and the oversupply situation in the domestic coal market, while sluggish international demand and oversupply in the global market contributed to the decreases in coal exports from Shanxi.
