Shandong Province issues capacity elimination plans for ten industries

On May 25, the government of the eastern Chinese province of Shandong issued a notice regarding the elimination of disqualified capacities. Thus, the province has determined its target for the elimination of out-of-date capacities in ten industries including electric power, coal, iron and steel, cement, nonferrous metal, coking coal, paper-making, leather-making, etc. According to the notice, the province plans by the end of 2010 to eliminate small thermal power plants with an aggregate capacity of 1 million kWh and by the end of 2011 to eliminate iron-making blast furnaces below 400 m3 and steel-making convertors and electric furnaces below 30 mt.
