On August 6, the UK Certification Authority for Reinforcing Steels (CARES) started to conduct its review of Shagang's quality management system for British Standard rebar. Upon completion of the review, CARES has confirmed its approval of Shagang's British Standard rebar, after Shagang's initial February success in passing the CARES pre-check.

Shagang is the second mill to obtain CARES certification in China, meaning that Shagang's rebar will have free access to the European Union market, while the reputation of its products in the international market will be enhanced.
