Russia-based Severstal Group has announced that its pipe production unit Izhora Pipe Mill (IPM) produced over 500,000 mt of large diameter pipes in 2011, up 10 percent compared to 2010 levels.

IPM, specialized in manufacturing large diameter pipes from strips produced by Cherepovets Steel Mill which is part of the Severstal Russian steel division, increased its output on the back of its supplies to major projects of its key customers Gazprom and Transneft as well as to other oil and gas companies in Russia.

Transneft's East Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline system was one of the projects for which IPM provided supplies in 2011. In terms of shipment volume, the principal project for IPM was Gazprom's Bovanenkovo-Ukhta gas trunk-line project, with a delivery of 250,000 mt of large diameter pipe, accounting for almost half of IPM's total shipments.
