Severstal issues financial results for H1

The Russian steelmaker Severstal has issued its financial data for the first half of 2007.

According to the company release, during the period in question Severstal's revenues increased by 31.1 percent, its operational profit went up by 81 percent, EBIDTA rose by 60.7 percent and the company's net profit climbed by 134.5 percent. The respective figures were $7.771 billion, $1.484 billion, $2.094 billion, and $999 million.

Commenting on the outlook for the second half of the year, Severstal stated, "Given Severstal's strong first half performance, and with current market conditions underpinned by strong Russian economic growth, price stability in Europe and planned improvements at Severstal North America, the Board is currently comfortable with market expectations for the full year".
