Russian steel producer Severstal is extending its cooperation with foreign automakers that have plants in Russia.

Specifically, Severstal has signed a supply contract for H1 2011 with French automaker Renault, within the framework of which it will triple compared to H2 2010 its deliveries of rolled steel products for the production of the stamped parts of Renault Logan and Renault Sandero cars in Russia.

In addition, Severstal has received positive test results for its samples of high strength microalloyed cold rolled steel from South Korean automaker Hyundai-Kia's plant in St. Petersburg, and as a next step in the approval process it plans in January-February 2011 to start stamping parts for Hyundai Solaris cars.

Positive tests results have also been received by Severstal for its WSS-M1A345-A3 steel samples from American automaker Ford. In March 2011, a technical audit will be carried out on the quality management system, manufacturing processes and product quality control at Severstal, as required for the approval process.
