Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal Russian Steel, has decided to restart operations at its coke battery No. 3, which has a production capacity of 460,000 mt of coke per year.

Accordingly, the battery is to be brought smoothly up to operating temperature conditions of 1,350° С from the current hot conservation temperature of 850° C. Cherepovets' coke battery No. 3 had been switched to the hot conservation regime at the end of 2008 due to the production cuts caused by the global economic downturn.

The coke battery No. 3 is to reach its designed parameters on March 2, 2009.
