According to an International Steel Association report, Severstal has became Russia's largest steel producer in terms of production, with an output of 15.1 million tons in 2005. The company overcame the ex-leader of Russia's steel production Evraz Group, which produced 13.8 million tons in 2005. Severstal now ranks as the world's 13th largest steelmaker, while Evraz Group is on 14th place. Severstal's figures include production at US-based Rouge Industries and Italian-based Lucchini, which it bought last year.
