Swedish high-technology engineering and steelmaking group Sandvik has announced that its subsidiary Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT) has held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new pickling plant at the hot production flow for tube manufacturing in Sandviken, Sweden. The new pickling plant will be commissioned at the end of 2017.

Sandvik stated that almost all tubes produced in Sweden pass through the pickling process step, making this a very important investment that will ensure the stability and quality of tube production. The plant will have state-of-the-art technology and two of the main advantages are a safer working environment and environmentally-friendly processes.
