SAIL’s RSP is beating records

According to recent news in the market, in April-August 2003 period, the production in Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), which is an affiliate of Steel Authority of India Ltd.(SAIL) has highly surmounted up the rates recorded in the same period last year. The plant has produced 1.089 million tons of total sinter with an increase by 10%, 715'000 million tons of hot metal by 6.1% and 643'000 million tons of continuous cast slabs by 8.6%. Total salelable steel production, with an increase by 8% over the same period of last fiscal has amounted up to 665'000 million tons. Furthermore, production of high value-added products in the same period has displayed a significant growth. For instance, production of plates increased by 34%, electric resistance weld (ERW) pipes by 73%, spiral weld pipes by 39%, CR sheet and coils by 7%, tin plates by 17.3%, galvanized sheets by 10% and cold rolled non oriented (CNRO) from silicon steel mill by 7%. The production of the high value-added CNRO from RSP's silicon steel mill during August was the highest rate compared to the any other month since the establishment of the plant.
