SAIL commissions new pipe coating plant in Rourkela

Indian state-owned steelmaker Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has commissioned a pipe coating plant at the company's Rourkela Steel Plant located in the northwestern tip of the state of Orissa, the Indian press has reported.

According to the reports, set up with technical know-how from Italian company Messers Socotherm SPA, the new unit, which was inaugurated by SAIL chairman S.K. Roongta at the weekend, is in strict compliance with pollution control norms as per European standards.

The new plant has a coating capacity of 60,000 mt per year. The total production capacity of Rourkela Steel Plant is 1.8 million mt per year.
