Iran-based Saba Compact Strip Processing Plant, an affiliate of Iranian state-owned flats producer Mobarakeh Steel, produced 59,000 mt of hot rolled coil in the first month (21.03-20.04.2010) of the current Iranian year, up 31 percent on the volume of 45,200 mt produced in the same month of the previous year - according to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). The management of the plant, located close to Esfahan Steel near the city of Esfahan, intend to reach the plant's nominal capacity of 700,000 mt in the current Iranian year.
The Saba plant initially began operations in 2003 as a subsidary of Esfahan Steel, but was subsequently transferred to Mobarakeh. Since its transfer its output has been growing rapidly due to better management and improved supplies of material. The plant produces thin slab which it rolls and converts to HRC for sale in both the local and export markets.
