Four South Korean steelmakers - POSCO, Hyundai Steel, Dongkuk Steel and Dongbu Steel - are expected to invest up to Won 11 trillion ($12 billion) to enlarge their facilities in the domestic market through 2011.

This figure could reach up to Won 25 trillion ($27 billion) if spending on overseas plants is taken into account. POSCO plans to invest $13 billion to build a plant in India, while Dongkuk Steel intends to spend some $800 million on a factory in Brazil.
