S. Korea’s exports of cast and forged steel rise in Jan-May

South Korea's exports of cast steel and forged steel products increased sharply in the January-May period this year compared with the same period last year.
 
According to the data from the Korea Iron and Steel Association (KOSA), South Korea's overseas sales of cast steel and forged steel products in January-May this year totaled 161,384 mt, up 42.5 percent year on year. In the January-May period, overall sales of South Korean cast steel and forged steel products at home and abroad increased by 8.4 percent year on year to 516,650 mt.
 
In May alone, however, sales of South Korean cast steel products and forged steel products in the domestic market declined respectively by 14.1 percent year on year to 7,149 mt and by 41.5 percent to 40,684 mt.
 
Meanwhile, South Korean production of both cast steel and forged steel products for the first five months of the year totaled 537,450 mt, up 4.9 percent year on year.
