South Korean electric arc furnace steelworks plan to increase monthly sales of their rebars by 18 percent from a month ago to 727,500 mt in September, but it is anticipated that their rebar production increase rate would not reach such a high growth pace of sales.

According to a recent survey by Korea Metal Journal on seven major South Korean electric arc steelworks, they have set a goal of lifting the average capability utilization rate of their rebar mills to 64.3 percent this month, an increase of 3.4 percentage points from a month ago.

Setting a goal to produce a total of 674,900 mt of rebars in September, they plan to raise the capability utilization rate of their mills this month compared with a month ago, but it is anticipated that the increase rate will be limited in producing their rebars. Even if they reach the monthly goal of 64.3 percent this month, it will be lower than 60.5 percent in

February and 62 percent in July.
However, rebar makers want to maintain the capability utilization rate of their mills at such a low level in order to hold their inventory at an optimum level
