The world's highest truck-mounted aerial platform, to be unveiled at the Bauma trade fair in Munich, Germany on 19-25 April, features Finnish steelmaker Ruukki's high-strength Optim 650 MC and Optim 900 steels.

According to a Ruukki press release, the aerial platforms reaching up to a height of 112 meters are made by Bronto Skylift, the global market leader in truck-mounted hydraulic platforms.

The steel used needed to have new properties such as greater strength along with light weight and engineering usability, Ruukki said.

"We've worked closely with Bronto Skylift and developed material and adapted our manufacturing technology to demanding solutions like these. Using Ruukki's service concept enabled the customer to develop a lighter, safe device with longer reach," says Ruukki vice president Juha Yrjänä.
