Russia’s stainless steel imports up 28.1 percent in Jan-Sept

In January-September period this year, Russia’s stainless steel imports exceeded 368,000 mt, up by 28.1 percent year on year, according to Russia-based SpetsStal Association.

In the given period, in terms of volume, Russia’s imports of stainless cold rolled steel, stainless hot rolled steel, stainless seamless pipes, stainless long steel, stainless welded pipes and stainless wire increased by 25.8 percent, 5.8 percent, 117.3 percent, 85.9 percent, 12.1 percent and 109.5 percent year on year, respectively.  

In the first nine months, in terms of volume, Russia’s imports from China accounted for 67.0 percent of total imports. Other top sources of imported stainless steel included India with a 21.0 percent share and Indonesia with 6.0 percent.
