Russia’s stainless steel flats output increases by 78.9 percent in H1

The Russian Special Steel and Alloys Consumers and Suppliers Association (Spetsstal) has announced that that in the first half of 2010 Russia's output of stainless steel flat products grew by 78.9 percent year on year to 29,219 mt. The breakdown of output figures gives the share of hot rolled and cold rolled products at 62.5 percent and 37.5 percent respectively. The share of nickel-content products in the total produced volume amounted to 89.2 percent.

Despite such a significant increase compared to 2009, the 2010 output of stainless steel flat products still lags behind the 2008 levels by 14.3 percent. In the first half of 2008, the output of the given products amounted to 34,095 mt.
