Russia’s Novorosmetall commissions new long steel mill in Abinsk

The Russian metallurgical company Novorosmetall has commissioned the first phase of its new bar rolling mill in the town of Abinsk, Krasnodar region, Russia, with the second phase planned to be started by the end of the current year, the regional administration said.

Accordingly, the new electrometallurgical mill can currently produce about 500,000 mt of long rolled products; however, by reaching its full capacity, the new mill will be able to produce five times this volume.

The products will be supplied to the domestic construction industry, for the construction projects linked to the Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi, and also exported to Europe and America.

The investments in the construction of the first phase of the mill exceeded Ruble 5 billion (about $166 million).
