According to the data issued by Russia's Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the January-July period of the current year Russia increased its finished steel product output by 17.2 percent year on year to 33.2 million metric tons, including 9.9 million metric tons of long products - up nine percent, and 15.6 million metric tons of flat rolled steel products - up 26.3 percent, both compared to the same period last year. The above flat rolled production figure includes 5.3 million metric tons of cold rolled steel products, which showed an increase of 22.9 percent year on year.
According to the preliminary data issued by Russian steel producers, in January-July this year Severstal Cherepovets increased its finished steel product output by 26.7 percent, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) raised its finished steel product output by nine percent, Mechel's Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant saw its finished output increase by 25 percent, Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) observed a 14 percent rise in its finished steel output, while Evraz's Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works (NTMK) registered a five percent drop in its finished steel product output, all compared to the same period last year.
