Russia’s ferrous metal export volume up 9.1 percent in January-May

In the first five months of this year, Russia's ferrous metal export volume increased by 9.1 percent year on year to 3.36 million mt, according to the State Statistics Committee of Russia (Russtat).

In volume terms, exports of ferroalloys increased by 1.1 percent to 387,200 mt, exports of pig iron rose by 28.6 percent to 1.71 million mt, while exports of semi-finished goods decreased by 8.3 percent to 5.09 million mt, all compared to January-May 2013.

In January-May this year, Russia's exports of ferrous metals to non-CIS countries increased by 17.3 percent  to 2.76 million mt, while its volumes of supplies to CIS countries decreased by 17.5 percent to 597,400 mt, both year on year.
