Russian sources have reported that the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation (FAS) is proposing to impose export duty on coking coal and scrap in order to stabilize the situation in the Russian domestic steel market.

The FAS proposed to impose a special duty on scrap, an export duty on coking coal, while the question regarding imposition of duty on iron ore exports is still under discussion.

The amount of duties is yet to be disclosed; however they will not exceed the level of 30 percent, the Russian media reported with reference to the FAS's statement.
