Russia’s Ashinskiy sees 15.6 percent rise in January-August steel output

According to its data issued for the first eight months of 2010, Russian steel producer Ashinskiy Metallurgical Works (Ashinskiy) registered a 15.6 percent increase year on year in its steel output to 460,500 mt, including 442,300 mt of slabs - up 17.6 percent year on year.
In January-August 2010, Ashinskiy produced 396,900 mt of rolled steel products - up 10.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
In addition, during the period in question Ashinskiy's sales of steel plates increased by 8.7 percent year on year to 366,500 mt. Of this figure, 274,600 mt of plates were delivered to the Russian domestic market - up 71 percent year on year, 56,000 mt were exported to non-CIS countries - down 59 percent, and 11,000 mt were delivered to CIS countries - down 24.4 percent, all compared to January-August 2009.
