Russkaya Stal (Russian Steel), a non-profit association of Russian domestic steelmakers, has stated that its member companies produced 4.9 million mt of finished steel products in July of this year, up 7.9 percent month on month and rising by 2.1 percent year on year. In the same month, tube production totaled 560,000 mt, increasing by 9.5 percent compared to June this year and up 0.3 percent compared to July 2014.
During the first seven months of this year, Russian Steel member companies’ flat product output recorded an increase of 0.2 percent to 33.1 million mt, while their tube production totaled 3.9 million mt, increasing by 16.1 percent, both year on year.
In July of the current year, Russian Steel member companies’ shipments of finished steel products including slab, billet, flat and long products to the local market amounted to 2.96 million mt, increasing by 15.8 percent month on month and rising by 1.4 percent year on year, while shipments of steel pipes to the local market totaled 490,000 mt, recording a decrease of 10.2 percent compared to June and increasing by 12.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In the January-July period, the shipments of rolled steel products to the local market fell by 6.5 percent year on year to 18.26 million mt, while shipments of steel tubes to the local market in the given period increased by 25.33 percent year on year to 3.47 million mt.
