In the first five months of 2007, Russia registered a 5.3 percent increase in its crude steel production year on year to 30.6 million metric tons.
In addition, during the period in question, Russia produced 21.7 million metric tons of semi-finished products - up 9.7 percent, 14.1 million metric tons of long products - up 7.8 percent, and 10.5 million metric tons of flat rolled products (including 3.4 million metric tons of cold rolled and 7.1 million metric tons of hot rolled) - up 1.9 percent (including a 1.4 percent decrease in cold rolled production but a 3.6 percent increase in hot rolled production) all compared to the corresponding period of last year.
